There are a number of different microdermabrasion treatments on the market. There is aluminum oxide microdermabrasion, ultrasonic microdermabrasion, and there is the diamond peel microdermabrasion, which, as the name implies, peels off the old skin from your face (also known as exfoliating the skin). This is a popular treatment for acne and blackheads, as it works quite well and is easy enough to do.
Diamond peel microdermabrasion has many pros that other microdermabrasion treatments do not. One pro is that it is easy to have done. You do not even have to go to a dermatologist as you would for some other microdermabrasion treatments, you only have to go to a spa and they will perform it there; many spas have the facilities for this. Another pro is that there are no negative side effects with diamond peel microdermabrasion.
Aluminum oxide microdermabrasion, on the other hand, has been known to cause negative side effects to people with sensitive skin, or to get into people’s eyes and ears due to the way that the treatment is blasted onto the skin. A number of people have also been concerned at the possibility of longer term negative side effects that the aluminum oxide might cause to the facial skin if this treatment is used over a fairly log period of time. That is not to mention the fact that it is easy, and sometimes almost impossible to avoid, breathing in the aluminum oxide crystals as they are applied, which naturally most people would want to avoid doing.
Diamond peel microdermabrasion is a very good treatment to consider, especially if you have sensitive skin. It is not too expensive, in fact, it costs less than other options for microdermabrasion treatments. You can have it done at a spa; each sitting will take about half an hour to do. However, you should not look for instant results if you do decide to go in for this treatment, as it usually takes anywhere from eight to twelve sitting before there are obvious positive results.
