Microdermabrasion treatments using microdermabrasion at home kits

Diamond Tome is a trademark for a microdermabrasion technique developed by NewApeel that consists of non-crystal wands used to exfoliate and rejuvenate upper skin cells.

In basic terms, microdermabrasion—known commonly as microderm—removes dead outermost surface skin, and several methods for clinical and home use have been developed. The Diamond Tome technique involves slender, diamond-tipped wands, either round or flat, that are used for anything from basic skin exfoliation to fuller skin resurfacing. Fine and medium-face wands are used for basic exfoliation of healthy skin; coarse and extra-coarse wands are used for more aggressive skin resurfacing; and, round or flat lymphatic massage wands are used for lymphatic drainage.

Vacuum pressure controls the pressure of skin to diamond chip surface on the wands, with pressure increased according to skin thickness or level of aggressive treatment required. The Diamond Tome system is not customarily a home microderm technique; trained clinicians, nurses, or doctors usually administer the treatment, with the time and number of Diamond Tome treatments determined by your skin type and its condition. Because it is a quick treatment system no matter the level or depth needed, and because it requires no down time after any application, Diamond Tome is considered ideal for very active patients.

Diamond Tome treatment is not recommended, however, if a patient is dealing with active acne, uncontrolled diabetes, eczema or dermatitis, skin cancer, viral or vascular lesions, or taking oral blood thinners. The technique is also not recommended for pregnant women, and it is not a recommended tattoo removal treatment.

The Diamond Tome wands are considered a cleaner microderm treatment because they do not use the crystals method and therefore risk no loose particles that in turn risk skin irritation. The wands themselves can be reused; NewApeel recommends they be cleaned in enymatic detergent for fifteen minutes and then washed in hot running water, with the wand faces scrubbed with a brush to remove proteins, followed by placing the wands in disinfecting solution.

You can ask your skin care spa whether they use Diamond Tome or tell them you prefer Diamond Tome treatment to other microderm techniques if you are not inclined to invest in a home microderm treatment kit for yourself.
